About The Company
Hi, my name is Ryan Anderson and I am the owner and operator of Shellback Landscapes.
In October 2014, I launched Shellback Gardening. As a gardener, I maintained clients’ outdoor spaces and performed small landscaping installations. While running my own business, I also worked as an installer for Cornerstone Landscape and Gardens By Gabriel for about three and half years.
After earning my contractor’s license (#1068613) in 2020, I became bonded and insured, and I rebranded and expanded my services. In September 2020, Shellback Gardening officially became Shellback Landscapes, a full-service landscape construction and maintenance company.
As a hobbyist photographer, painter, and gardener and one who appreciates nature and art, I view our work as an artistic collaboration with the natural world around us. I love the challenges and rewards afforded by landscape design and construction while maintenance allows me to keep clients’ outdoor spaces looking amazing, whether I’ve built them or not.
Behind the name
Before plants and dirt, I served in the US Navy for five years, and was honorably discharged in 2010. For a sailor in the Navy, crossing the equator is a milestone in their career. When first joining, sailors are informally referred to as “pollywogs.” To commemorate their first equator crossing, sailors are initiated as “shellbacks.” I crossed the equator twice during my service and now carry this title proudly in my landscaping business.
